Did you know that Nemo lives in a particular Biosphere? Or that Winnie The Pooh comes from a UNESCO Biosphere in England? Let's explore and appreciate the unique Biospheres around us, as UNESCO has already begun doing. Together, we can learn to respect and protect these precious ecosystems.
Most people don’t really understand the importance of the Biosphere Reserves: the wildlife it houses, the delicious ingredients it produces and its contribution to the environment.
How can we help them see that the Biospheres are already part of their lives in a way that is entertaining and easy to understand, prompting them to join in the preservation?
Link beloved cartoon characters to their corresponding biospheres around the world, based on their habitats and behaviours.
A successful social media campaign shouldengage and lead people to action, and that is what we had in mind when creatingthose.
We looked for data to help us understandwhat our target wants to know, we got insights on their behaviour andinterests, and we put those into practice with a tone of voice and designthinking that are native from these channels.
Our goal is to join in theirconversation, so that they will join UNESCO’s community and the BiosphereReserve movement.
IDEA
Formany of us, our early days are filled with animation, and bringing that touchof what is called an “affective animation” from our youths into the now hasproven to be a good way of establishing an emotional connection with theaudience.
Having that in mind, we will connect thecharacters that are known and loved around the world with the Biospheresrelated to their habitat and behaviors. Partnering with animation studios, we will place Nemo, Simba, Totoro, Winniethe Pooh, Pocahontas, Tarzan and more in their Biosphere of origin, inspiring people and educating on thereasons why protecting our biospheres is so important.
RESULTS TO LOOK FORWARD TO
Our SEO research has shown people areinterested in knowing where the Biosphere Reserves are located. So wewill take that hook and then use it to educate further, giving them thewhere, the what and the reasons why you should care.
As people get more informed, they’llinteract more, visit the Biospheres, and become a spokesperson among theirown group of people, influencing a generationthat could make significant changes in the environment.
HOW IT WILL WORK
We will use UNESCO’s social mediachannels to build anticipation prior to the International Day for BiosphereReserves. To begin, we will unveilour characters’ location, sharing information and educating in a way that iseasy and entertaining.
Once people are more aware of what theBiosphere Reserves represent, we can start engaging them, asking them toparticipate in saving the environment (together with their favoritecharacters). For that, besides partnering with influencers, we will create aspecial filter with the most researched Biospheres together with their matchingcharacter.
